First of all I'm sorry for my long hiatus. After my first week being sick I got even MORE sick! And yeah, I still don't feel 100% back to normal. And, I somehow (lol)  got all the people around me sick too (imagine that. Hihi). So I've been kind of taking care of them too. Anyway, I have two weeks of awesome books to show. And, I got an iPad. How awesome is that??? I'm sorry for the weird pictures and the bad quality, I had just too much fun playing with different apps.

 Crossed - Ally Condie. (Matched # 2). I just had to get this one, to continue the series, even though I didn't like Matched at all.

Wherever You Go - Heather Davis. I really liked this book, it's a very interesting premise and there are three different POV's that really worked for me!

Little Women and Me - Lauren Baratz-Logsted . I really like Little Women, one of my favourite classics.

Never Cry Werewolf - Heather Davis

Don't Expect Magic - Kathy McCullough. Sounds very interesting and zany.

Amplified - Tara Kelly. This book BLEW me away. I simply loved it!

The Prophecy of the Sisters - Michelle Zink. This was really cheap on bookdepo, so I thought I'd check it out.

Amy and Roger's Epic Detour - Morgan Matson. I already own the Hardback version of this book. But the paperback is soo pretty, I just had to have a second copy :)

The Iron Knight - Julie Kagawa. I already had an e-version of this awesome book, but of course I had to have a finished copy too.

Book Journal - It has pretty stickers :) an awesome way to keep track of what I read, love it!

A Book Lover's Diary - So pretty and it has awesome quotes!

My Best of 2010

Well, I'm late with this, as usual. I had great plans for this post, had it all mapped out in my head, it was going to be awesome. But time got the best of me so this will have to do.

According to my Goodreads account I've read 105 books in 2010 and 14 books that I've started but not finished. As I've joined Goodreads in June I can't be sure that I remembered all the books I read before that and of course, all my rereads and books for my university-studies aren't counted in that number. Anyway, it's still a pretty high number and deciding which books I liked best in 2010 was really hard.

I'm sick again..Quelle surprise!

Between short bouts of fitful sleeping or simply staring at nothing I alternate between writing my final paper (which is/was due today) and reading. It seems though that it is a lot easier to read than to write when you can't think coherently. Anyway, I just finished One Night Stand and I have to say it is as good as the first time I've read it. I love it! The characters are likeable, I developed a huge crush Hugh (must be because my body is weak from fever), the story is fast-paced and interesting and the writing is wonderful. It made me laugh and my eyes got wet now and then :)

So..I've decided to stay with the pregnancy theme and move on to this book:

So, I finished reading The Pregnancy Test yesterday. This time around I found it way too cheesy, I skipped several pages and skimmed through some parts. I guess I was a bit younger when I read it the first time. Anyway, I decided to stay with the theme of unexpected pregnancy so today's charming little book I'm going to reread is this one:

What is the difference between a good book and a bad one (I alreday know that this book isn't a great one..so)

I'm really not good at giving reviews, my opinion is never the same as anyone else's. It's subjective, and my feelings and opinions about books are always shadowed by how I felt that particular day, if a was glad or sad, it it was raining or sunny.

Anyway, I read this little book on Friday-afternoon, in one sitting. Is it a good book if you just can't put it down?

I'm not going to give a short synopsis of the book's content, you can read that on any number of different sources, like amazon.com or on Julie Cohens homepage .
The book is called Nina Jones and the Temple of Gloom, the Gloom Temple part starts after about 160 pages. I didn't want to read these first 160 pages. I wasn't interested in them, At all! I already knew what was going to happen. It said so on the back of the book! Nina is in love with the married guy, she runs away to Spain with the Spanish guy instead, he in turn runs off with all her money..and that's when the Temple of Gloom really starts. Why read anything that I already know the outcome of, why invest any emotions? I wanted to know what happened after, so I pretty much started reading the book on page 160 or somewhere near there.

The good part of the book on the other hand is way too short, the ending is rushed and I still don't know much about Vampire Viktor..and why did Julie Cohen try to get in all that Vampire-mystery stuff in the first place? It seems she tried to write about something that is IN right now -> Vampires.

Anyway, bottom line is that I liked the book, the second part at least. But it left me emotionally unfulfilled, I wanted more, the real story was too short for me, too rushed.
But try it, if you are looking for a fast Friday afternoon read :)

These I got today..I'm very excited, finally something to read again...didn't read a book for several weeks!

Bokabstinens

Jag har aldrig haft så svårt att hitta böcker förut! Seriöst. Hur svårt kan det vara att hitta en bok att läsa? Väldigt svårt verkar det som! Jag har köpt hela 15 !!! böcker den senaste månaden jag inte kunde läsa. Jämför det med 4, för fyra är det antal böcker som jag köpte och läste den senaste månaden. Helt galet. Jag brukar läsa 4 böcker i veckan, minst.
Vad är det som har förändrats? Jag? Har jag förändrats medan allt annat har förblivit sig likt? Eller är det snarare jag som har stått stilla, medan allt runt omkring mig förändrades sakta med säkert? Är det finanskrisens fel? Jag som ibland kan gilla lite udda böcker av nya författare, att de stora förlagen inte vågar ge de ut, eftersom de inte garanterar vinst? Folk vågar inte skriva om sådant längre som de skrev om innan krisen? Nu måste allt vara seriöst och reflekterande? Eller ha med pengar/jobb kriser/problem att göra? Exempel: "Confessions of a Reluctant Recessionista" by Amy Silver. Jag är så trött på det. Usch..jag vill ha nåt att läsa nu! Inget tungt, det har jag tillräckligt med i An Echo in The Bone, eller i kurslitteraturen, eller till och med i mejlen hemifrån! Jag vill försvinna i en annan värld, även om det bara är för några timmar. Jag vill ha den där lyckokänslan jag får av att läsa en bra bok, känslan i magen jag får när jag är i skolan, eller på stan och plötsligt minns att en bra bok väntar hemma, ååå som jag längtar!

Jag var på akademibokhandeln igår, i Muppsala. De har ju ingen urval alls på engelska böcker, men jag försökte ändå. Hittade som väntat ingenting. Stannade av en slump framför barn/ungdomshyllan, där de till exempel har Twilight på engelska. Såg "Emily"..lyckorus...men nähä..de hade inte bok 3, som jag så gärna hade velat läst. Fick gå tomhänt därifrån.

Känns desperat att lista böckerna som jag väntar på redan nu..framförallt med tanke på att några kommer ut nästa år, vår/sommar. Hjälp!

I just ate my favorite food and drank some red wine. My sister was over for dinner..it's nice to see that we still have the same humor, even though we have nothing else in common.

By the way, I've finished Girl from Mars by Julie Cohen. I liked it a lot better than Molly's Millions by Victoria Connelly. With that I don't want to say that Molly's Millions is bad, because I really liked it too, it was the perfect Sunday read. But Girl from Mars was written from the "I" perspective, and I guess thats why I liked the book so much better...

Helt slut

Jag är helt slut idag..det blev en lång dag på jobbet. Började kl 7 som vanligt, jobbade fram till tolv efter en lunchrast jobbade jag på fram till kvart över fem.
Man brukar ju säga att man måste kopiera mycket som sekreterare, men eftersom våran fax-maskin på skrivbordet även är en kopiator så brukar det inte bli så mycket som man måste gå och kopiera framme i lärarrummet. Men idag så skulle jag kopiera ett brev till alla elever i alla klasser..runt 700 elever ..en hel del klasser. Det tog sin lilla tid..fick säkert sitta en timme vid kopiatorn för att utföra detta jobb. Varmt blev det! Med 30 grader ute, sol i rummet och en kopiator som jobbar på högfart...svettigt blev det..och jag satt ju bara och tittade på..haha..sedan fick jag springa till alla olika skolhusen och fördela mina pappersbuntar.
Jag har förresten träningsvärk i benen av att göra ingenting.
Nu sitter jag utomhus..det börjar bli mörkt..och det är en underbar fin kväll...ska dock strax gå och läsa lite i " Girl from Mars" och sedan försöka somna tidigt (en omöjlighet)
Imorron ska det börjas en halvtimme tidigare..får sluta en halvtimme tidigare sen också, men får ingen skjuts så jag måste gå hem en 6 kilometer ungefär.
Annars så händer det inte så värst mycket..Imorron ska jag på bio igen, Coco avant Chanel..får se hur det blir...den här gången är filmen inte dubbad..dock den är på franska..:P

Hej svejs så länge...

Thank God its Friday

Jag var på stan idag..ett helt år sen jag var där sist..men ingenting har förändrats.
Ville egentligen leta efter några Jeans..men det finns inte så många affärer så jag hittade som vanligt ingenting.

Jag köpta dock några pärlor så att jag kan göra nya örhängen och halsband..jag var lite trött och orkade inte leta så länge i affären..men jag ska dit igen och köpa mer nästa vecka.

Kvart i tolv i morse kom mitt bokpaket från amazon, jag beställde böckerna i söndags, så det gick hyfsad fort, fraktfritt dessutom och ingen moms..kul:) synd att det inte fungerar på samma sätt till Sverige!

Den ena boken har jag väntat på väldigt länge nu, men det fanns aldrig läge att beställa den, eftersom jag inte har befunnit mig på samma plats i tillräckligt lång tid ett tag nu..men nu äntligen :) perfekt till helgen också!

Så, nu måste jag gå och göra mig i ordning..ska träffa min kompis Roger om 55 minuter..*GLAD*, hoppas det inte börjar regna ....

Perfect Image - Marisa Heath. Egentligen absolut inte min stil. Ingen aning varför jag köpte den. Men jag har varit lite inne på Little Black Dress books på sistone..så why not? Den passar iaf in i min bokhylla:)..om den blir läst vet jag ej.

Molly's Millions - Victoria Connelly. Jag gillar texten på baksidan..hoppas den är lika bra som den låter.

Stockholm

Jag vaknade idag av några champagne-frukostande studenter som sjöng "var är mössan?!" - "Här är mössan!!" och så vidare....har sjukt ont i mitt högra öra, det känns som nån har roligt med en voodoo-docka och sticker nålar i högra örat på den!!!! AJ!

Jag kom något försenat hemifrån igår, jag var så inne i mitt PM-skrivande att jag totalt glömde bort tiden, dessutom glömde jag också bort att jag också måste lösa tågbiljett, då mitt 10-kort har gått ut. Detta resulterade i att jag fick springa, med paraplyet i ena handen, väskan i andra, upp för backen till järnvägsstationen. Jag kom fram alldeles svettig och blöt av regnet, bara för att få veta att tåget är en halvtimme försenad----tack så mycket!! Då fick man stå där i kylan, och bli alldeles blöt av regnet, då det blåste så stark att det inte gjorde någon som helst skillnad om man stod under tak eller inte!
Jag fortsatte att frysa under hela resten av dagen..blev inte varm förrän jag fick kliva in i duschen när jag väl kom hem på kvällen!..

Jag mötte Sven inne på centralen..först gick vi till banken..men det var så som förra gången, förgäves. Vi kollade lite på studenttågen som inte verkade bry sig om regnet, fulla och högljudda som de var...ganska fascinerande..haha..det måste ha regnat non-stop igår, så vi gick in på kulturhuset och satte oss på kafét högst upp i huset, med bra panoramablick över Sergels Torg, men det fanns förstås inga platser kvar vid fönstren.

Det blev en stor bit chokladtårta för mig och ett glas vatten..mumsigt så gott! Hade dessutom ett trevligt samtal med mannen i kassan...han frågade "Which language?"..Jag svarade " Doesn't matter, whatever language is fine"..."So, is Russian ok?"..."No, not Russian. But German, French, English or Swedish is fine with me"...Han började då prata tyska med mig...var ganska kul faktiskt.

Sedan satt vi där, omgivna av mammor eller pappor med små barn..hade trevliga och intressanta samtal..och jag njöt av min chokladtårta...frussen som jag var - perfekt för att må bättre :)
Klockan 5 stängde de..så vi tog en promenad genom stan, studenterna var fortfarande i full gång, fortfarande lika skrikiga (konstigt att de inte blivit hesa ännu!) och ännu fullare...efter en promenix genom gamla stan, och en diskussion kring Terminator Salvations vara eller icke-vara tog vi tunnelbanan tillbaka till centralen där det blev Goodbye...Hjälp vad ett år går fort....helt sjukt faktiskt!


Jag tog sen tåget hem, fick typ sista sittplatsen, jag hann även springa in på pressbyrån och köpa min absoluta favorit sallad - bulgur-kyckling, mmh så gott.
Väl hemma blev jag upphämtad, åkte ner till bolaget för att köpa lite vin, inför ikväll..sedan hem.

Rundade av kvällen med att kolla på film, äta sallad och dricka ett glas rödvin..som ledde till att jag somnade ganska snabbt..:)

Yes, I should be asleep by now. But I'm just so jazzed up, so much adrenalin in my body. I got 8 new books today, with by me previously unread authors (except one).
So, I was just thinking about which books I'm currently waiting for, so here is my list!

Chick-lit, my favorites

Well, I read a lot, and it's mostly chick-lit I read, so I thought I start off with a list of my favorite chick-lit books. Because I don't read just any book, I really don't. And I don't read the typical chick-lit. I hate everything that has to do with shopping, make-up and shoes! Shoes in particular. I hate shoes (oops, maybe I shouldn't out myself like that). And I don't particular care for books with titles such as "A Singles Guide to...", and I really don't want to read about women working at glossy magazines and so on. So, even though I'm a girl and read chick-lit, I'm not so girly after all.
Books I read have to have something, that difficult to define it, most of the time it's something that is personal to me, and other readers just don't understand why I liked a particular book, because for them there was nothing special about it.
I like reading as an entertainment on lazy afternoons when there's nothing much to do. I like to read on a break from my studies, to get my mind to think about something else. I use reading when I'm angry or sad, because all my negative emotions disappear when I read, and I use reading when I'm happy because reading just makes all my positive emotions so much stronger.

Reading for me is a constant quest for that special feeling in my stomach/heart, some call it butterflies, but I'm not sure if it is that what it is, but it certainly makes life worth living!!!

It's difficult for me to say just exactly why I like a certain book, sometimes it has nothing to do with the book or the plot, but with how the book makes me feel!

My favorite chick-lit books: (Without any particular order!!!)

1. Conversations With The Fat Girl - Liza Palmer This is a favorite, not because of the weight issue but because Liza Palmer is an exceptionally good writer. I wasn't a fan of the "I" style before this book, but now I just can't get enough of it. I love the suspense I get when I don't know what everyone else is thinking, when I know exactly as much as the main-person in the book. When the author isn't playing God, and when you don't read phrases like " She didn't know that this wasn't the worst thing happening to her this day, more was to come..."
2. Be Careful What You Wish For - Alexandra Potter Well, the title says it all. The book really makes you start thinking about the small and big things in everyday-life. Wonderfully written.
3. Life's too Short to Frost a Cupcake - Rosie Wilde
   
4. Out Of The Blue - Belinda Jones Perfect Summer Read! You can litterally smell the ocean!
5. English As A Second Language - Megan Crane There's a lot of drinking in this book, which could cause a problem for some readers, but it's about college/graduate school, and which student doesn't drink?
   
6. Best Day Of Someone Else's Life - Kerry Reichs It's about weddings, a lot of them, which's normally not my thing, too girly. But this is a smart book, very entertaining, many deep insights, it has everything I look for in a book!!
7. One Night Stand - Julie Cohen
8. Flirting in Cars - Alisa Kwitney It was a warm sunny day, when I was reading this book on the balcony. I got so immersed in the story that when I finally was interrupted several hours later, I was very red and sun-burnt.

10. Desperately Seeking - Evelyn Cosgrave
11. Playing James - Sarah Mason
12. The Nanny - Melissa Nathan
13. The Boy I Loved Before - Jenny Colgan
14. I Heart New York - Lindsey Kelk I actually didn't care much for the plot. It has too much shopping, too many clothes and make-up and a few fairy-taily things in it, but the writing, the writing is wonderful! Once picked up, I couldn't put it down again, the emotions were so real. Heavenly :)
